ACLU-AL: HB56 Demise A Victory Over Discrimination

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The following can be attributed to Susan Watson, executive director of the ACLU of Alabama, regarding the agreement that blocks the final provisions of Alabama’s Anti-Immigration Law, H.B. 56:

“This settlement ends another ugly chapter of the Alabama Legislature’s attempts to jump on the anti-immigration bandwagon,” said Susan Watson, executive director of the ACLU of Alabama. “H.B. 56, like many others, ran afoul of federal law. To see its demise is a victory over discrimination.”
