MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- This week, as protests over police killings of Black people have continued in the wake of George Floyd’s and Breonna Taylor’s deaths, we have seen extensive and excessive use of force from police in engaging with these protesters, both here in Alabama and across the country. 

On June 2, Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin announced an amended order to the city's curfew that will ban "any demonstration, parade, march, or vigil on any of the public ways or upon any public property, including the public parks of this city." The full order can be found below.

MOBILE, Ala. -- Today, the Mobile County Sheriff Sam Cochran and Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson announced a temporary testing site outside of the county jail after 38 incarcerated people and 30 staff have tested positive.

The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals today denied the state of Alabama’s request to stay a preliminary injunction the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the ACLU of Alabama secured earlier this month on behalf of Dr. Yashica Robinson and three independent abortion clinics.
