This bill would eliminate the requirement that voters must register 14 days prior to an election. Instead, this bill would allow a person to register to vote on any day a board of registrars has open office hours, including the day of an election.

We support this effort to expand access to the polls because all Americans who want to cast a ballot should be able to do so. The bill received a favorable report from the Senate committee with a vote of 6-0-1, but failed on the Senate floor.
