HB13 would authorize state and local law enforcement agencies to enter into formal agreements with federal agencies such as the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to enforce federal immigration laws.

Under current Alabama law, the only method for an elector to vote before Election Day is via absentee ballot, which requires meeting specific eligibility criteria. SB 373 would establish an early voting process for general and special elections, excluding municipal elections.

HB642, the Alabama Family Planning Act, would explicitly recognize that Alabamians have the right to use contraception and to use assisted reproductive treatment, including services such as IVF and other fertility-related treatments.

This bill would prohibit classroom instruction or discussions related to gender identity or sexual orientation from being provided to public school students from prekindergarten through twelfth grade.

SB320 would restructure the Alabama Public Service Commission by increasing the number of commissioners from three members elected statewide to seven members, with one commissioner elected from each congressional district.

HB541 would change Alabama from an open primary system to a system that requires voters to register a political party affiliation in order to vote in that party’s primary.

SB293 would criminalize individuals who intentionally approach or remain within 25 feet of a first responder after being ordered to vacate the area if they are perceived as impeding, threatening, or harassing the first responder.

Under existing law, individuals convicted of “a crime of moral turpitude” lose their voting rights and must apply to have their rights restored upon meeting certain criteria after their sentence has ended. This bill would provide for automatic restoration of voting rights in certain circumstances.

This bill would authorize each school board to vote on whether to allow schools in their jurisdiction to accept a campus chaplain as a volunteer and, if the vote is in the affirmative, would allow volunteer chaplains to provide services at the request of a teacher.
