MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The following is a statement from Susan Watson, executive director of the ACLU of Alabama, in regards to today's ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court about cell phone searches:
"This ruling illustrates what the ACLU has always held as true: as technology evolves, so should our privacy rights. Our private lives are increasingly stored on cell phones and to perform warrantless searches these devices is clearly unlawful. We are very pleased that the U.S. Supreme Court agrees with what is so clearly apparent.”
